Creating a Vibrant Arts Community

For the past 25 years, the Whistler Arts Council has been Whistler community’s “umbrella arts organization”, playing a significant leadership role in arts advocacy and cultural development. An economic impact study of arts, culture, and heritage was conducted in 2008 and revealed that the collective annual income of arts organizations and artists in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor is an incredible $16.5 million, most of which is spent in the region.

There is no question. Arts and culture within the area are growing and we play a key role in leading the way.

We have established task forces and alliances and been an ambassador for the ambitious Whistler 2020 vision. And when the 2010 Olympic Games hit Whistler, we helped build a Legacy Project by launching a new Media Arts Club at Whistler Secondary School, as well as partnered with the key players in the community to be a part of Whistler Live! – Whistler’s festival during the 2010 Winter Games.

There are too many to list here, but if you want to read on each strategy we’ve set up, click here.
