Jamming: Introduction to Musical Improv(isation)

Jamming: Introduction to Musical Improv(isation)

This introductory class will explore the art of musical improvisation, musical themes and the conversation of jamming.   The approach in this course is to allow anyone, with or without musical training, to unlock their creative potential with music.  Learn how to jam, how to play with others, and about musical etiquette. This course focuses on making music accessible, and on being creative with musical expression.  Bring your instruments if you have one. Suitable for ages 16+ years.

Jeff Montgomery is a performer, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer and producer.  He is trained both classically and in jazz, but his main strength is in the improvised arts.   He has worked as an educational services representative for Long and Mcquade, run music festival workshops, and has been performing for over 18 years.  Locally, he is the lead singer for the band The Sociables. Music is the driving force in his life.  It is his hope to share what he’s learned with others, to help them realize their potential and to understand that music is for everyone -all we have to do is unlock our creative abilities.
