WAC Announces $2,500 Available Funding For Whistler Arts, Culture & Heritage Groups

The Whistler Arts Council (WAC) is in the business of fostering dreams and creativity, and this year is no exception. WAC is pleased to announce that 2013 Member Group Grants are now available for local arts, culture, and heritage groups and organizations to help them take one step closer to their projects’ completion.

The grants, which range from $400 to $1000 each, provide funding projects that will occur between January 1st and December 31st, 2014. Possible projects to be chosen are: professional development
workshops for amateur or professional writers/artists/performers, assistance with programming/productions in the performing or literary arts, art exhibitions, purchase of sheet music, or project-related costs like venue/equipment rentals and artist/director/facilitator fees.

“We are extraordinarily proud to be able to offer the Member Group Grants, and are excited to contribute to the many creative visions in our community,” says WAC Executive Director Doti Niedermayer.

The grants are funded through the BC Arts Council’s Member Groups Assistance Program and are open to any group or organization who is a member of WAC. Although priority will be given to established nonprofit
societies, unincorporated groups are encouraged to apply. Previous recipients include Whistler Singers, Whistler Pottery Club, Whistler Children’s Chorus, Whistler Writers Group, Whistler Valley Quilters Guild and Howe Sound Music Festival.

Applications are available online at artswhistler.com and are due Wednesday, September 18th, at 5pm.

They can be dropped off at Maurice Young Millennium Place or emailed directly to
.

Applicant groups must be current members of the Whistler Arts Council. The annual fee for a
group/organization membership to the Whistler Arts Council is $50.
