Wonderland Comes To Whistler

Whistler, B.C. – It’s often been said that Whistler is akin to the fabled Wonderland, and on Sunday, September 15th, 2013, from 4pm to 7pm, the Whistler Arts Council (WAC) will transform Nita Lake Lodge’s Cure Lounge into a veritable Wonderland, complete with outrageous hats and a festive tea party.

The event marks the second annual Artists in Wonderland fundraiser for WAC, and celebrates local arts and culture. The theme is the Mad Hatter’s tea party, so attendees are encouraged to wear their most flamboyant and artistic hat or fascinator. If there isn’t a hat sitting in your closet or on your shelf, you can make one at the event. WAC will run a hat-making workshop throughout the early evening to give party-goers the chance to express their madness with their own festive headpiece. Artistic edible chef creations, Namasthe tea, DJ music by Chili Thom and harp music by Alison Hunter will round out the party atmosphere.

The fifty dollar entrance ticket is just the beginning for those who want to donate to the cause. There will be a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, and an art raffle where everyone who purchases a raffle ticket is guaranteed to receive an 8” x 8” painted canvas by a local artist.

“Artists in Wonderland is a great way for locals and visitors to mingle with art enthusiasts and support our local arts scene,” says Kelly McIntosh, the event organizer.

WAC staff will get in the spirit this upcoming Friday, August 30th by wearing their hat creations for Fancy Hat Friday.

Tickets for Artists In Wonderland cost $50 and can be purchased at Scotiabank, Millennium Place, or online at artswhistler.com.
